Most people we work with do not have a "case." They have a letter, a contract, a worry, a question, or a decision to make. This page is here to help you decide whether what you are dealing with is something we can help with - and to make it easy to find out, free of charge, in twenty minutes.
THE EVERYDAY SITUATIONS WE HELP WITH
A normal week at Lexarox Legal.
Here is what a normal week looks like at Lexarox Legal. If something below sounds like your situation, we can almost certainly help.
For individuals
A letter has arrived from HMRC, the council, a landlord, an employer, or another company, and you are not sure what to do.
You have been sent a contract to sign and want a second pair of eyes before you commit.
You are appealing a tax penalty, a fine, or a regulatory decision.
You are in dispute with a company, a customer, a supplier or an employer.
You need help filling in an application, form or appeal - visa, naturalisation, HMRC, council, anything where you want it right first time.
You want to understand your rights before paying for a full legal case.
You have an issue that crosses the UK and the US (federal taxes, immigration, family law, US accounts, expatriation, anything similar).
You are not sure if you even need a lawyer, and you want someone to tell you straight.
For businesses
You are starting a business and want to set things up properly from day one.
You need a contract drafted but do not want to pay law-firm rates: employment, supplier, NDA, shareholder, terms and conditions, one-off agreements.
You have been sent a contract by a client, supplier or partner, and want it reviewed before you sign.
You are dealing with an HMRC investigation, a VAT enquiry, a penalty assessment, or an AML compliance question.
You have an employment issue, on the employer or the employee side: disciplinary, grievance, settlement, contracts, HR policy review.
You are in dispute with a customer, a supplier, a contractor, or a former partner, and you want to resolve it before it ends up in court.
You are restructuring, scaling, exiting, or closing a business and want the legal side handled properly.
You are expanding into the US, or setting up a UK arm of a US business, and need the cross-border view.
WHEN WE WILL REFER YOU ON
Honest about scope.
There are a small number of situations where a legal consultancy is not the right fit, and we will tell you that during the free 20-minute call. The most common ones are:
Court representation in the UK (a regulated barrister is required).
Conveyancing for residential property purchases.
Probate and the administration of estates.
Any other activity that, by UK law, counts as a "reserved legal activity" and must be carried out by a regulated solicitor.
When this is the case, we will do our best to connect you with someone trusted from our partner network, and we will stay involved if that is useful to you. You only pay for the work that is actually needed.
HOW TO GET THE CONVERSATION STARTED
Twenty minutes, no commitment, no awkwardness.
The hardest part of getting legal help is often picking up the phone. We have tried to make that part as easy as possible. Tell us what is going on, by phone, video, WhatsApp or message. We will listen, ask a few questions, and tell you honestly whether we can help, whether you need someone else, or whether the issue is smaller than you feared.
Need more than legal? We are part of a wider group.
Lexarox is a multi-disciplinary group of complementary professional services firms working together under one roof. If you need help that goes beyond legal, our sister firms are right next door.
